These petite paintings are perfect to add a little
pretty touch to a cosy spot on your wall.
Work in progress: The Dreaming Land
A new body of work that draws inspiration from themes of the Australian landscape, flora and fauna, geography, cartography, natural history, and a touch of mythology. Taking reference from actual landscape, flora and fauna, these pieces immediately evoke an Australian landscape, and yet they’re not real. They’re a montage of real experience, memory, imagination, symbol, and various systems of representation.
The bark isn’t like real bark, yet it reads as bark. The kangaroos are clay pink and stand in slightly preternatural formations. The trees are like lissom sculptures reaching to the heavens in supplication.
I'm leaning a little more into working with paint and brushwork for this series, and experimenting with other media. But still incorporating collage papers too.
